What is cavitation?

Cavitation peeling, also known as ultrasonic peeling or ultrasonic facial, is a non-invasive skincare treatment that utilizes ultrasonic waves to exfoliate and cleanse the skin. It is a gentle and effective method of removing dead skin cells, dirt, oil, and impurities from the skin’s surface. Cavitation  is generally considered a safe procedure.

During a cavitation peeling treatment, a handheld device that emits low-frequency ultrasonic vibrations is passed over the skin. These ultrasonic waves create microscopic bubbles in the liquid (typically water or a specialized cleansing solution) applied to the skin. The rapid expansion and collapse of these bubbles generate a gentle micro-jet action that helps dislodge and lift away dead skin cells and debris.

Cavitation peeling offers several benefits:

  1. Exfoliation: The ultrasonic vibrations help remove the outer layer of dead skin cells, promoting smoother and brighter skin.
  2. Deep cleansing: The micro-jet action of cavitation peeling effectively cleanses the pores, removing dirt, oil, and impurities that can contribute to clogged pores and breakouts.
  3. Enhanced product absorption: By exfoliating the skin and clearing away impurities, cavitation peeling helps improve the absorption of skincare products applied afterward. This allows for better penetration and efficacy of serums, moisturizers, and other skincare treatments.
  4. Gentle and non-abrasive: Unlike some traditional exfoliation methods, cavitation peeling is generally gentle and non-abrasive, making it suitable for individuals with sensitive skin or those who may not tolerate more aggressive exfoliation techniques.

It’s important to note that cavitation peeling is typically performed by trained professionals, such as estheticians or dermatologists, in a spa or clinic setting. The treatment can be customized based on individual skin needs and can be combined with other facial treatments for a comprehensive skincare experience. As with any skincare treatment, it’s advisable to consult with a professional to determine if cavitation peeling is suitable for your skin type and concerns.
