What is Color?
Colors are visual perceptions created by the interaction of light with the human eye and brain. They are the result of how light waves of different wavelengths are absorbed, reflected, or emitted by objects and interpreted by our visual system. Here’s 6 overview:
1. Scientific Basis
- Light Waves: Colors correspond to different wavelengths of light within the visible spectrum, which ranges from approximately 400 nanometers (violet) to 700 nanometers (red).
- No Light: The absence of light appears black.
- White Light: A combination of all visible wavelengths.
2. Primary Colors
- Additive Colors: In light, the primary colors are red, green, and blue (RGB). Combining them in various intensities creates all other colors.
- Subtractive Colors: In pigments or paints, the primary colors are cyan, magenta, and yellow (CMY). Mixing these colors subtracts wavelengths and produces other colors.
